Gurugram and Bengaluru-based train ticketing platforms ixigo Trains and ConfirmTkt have integrated Swiggy's restaurant network into their respective applications to offer on-train food delivery to rail passengers across India. The partnership enables travellers to order meals from over 40,000 restaurant partners spanning 160-plus railway stations, with delivery to their seats at scheduled station stops.
Through the integration, passengers can access the service via the 'Order Food on Train' option on the ixigo Trains or ConfirmTkt app homepage. Upon entering their PNR number and selecting a delivery station, users can browse available Swiggy restaurant menus, complete payment, and track their order in real time. Orders can be placed up to four days ahead of travel or as late as 30 minutes before the train's arrival at the chosen station. Swiggy has extended an assured delivery or full refund guarantee for all food-on-train orders placed through the integration.
Sripad Vaidya, COO, ixigo Trains and ConfirmTkt, said: "Our focus has always been to simplify and enhance every aspect of the train travel journey. Food is an integral part of that experience. By partnering with Swiggy, we are combining our deep understanding of train travel with Swiggy's strong restaurant network and delivery expertise to further strengthen our existing 'Food on Train' feature. This collaboration enables us to offer greater choice, reliability and transparency, while ensuring timely and hygienic meal delivery directly to passengers' seats."
Deepak Maloo, Vice President, Food Strategy, Customer Experience and New Initiatives, Swiggy, said: "India's railways carry over 18 million long-distance, reserved passengers daily, and hunger doesn't pause at the platform. Our partnership with ixigo Trains and ConfirmTkt brings Swiggy's trusted restaurant network directly to the rail journey, covering 160+ stations. For millions of travellers, this means the same quality and convenience they expect at home, now follows them on the train, especially during long journeys."
Consumer data from Swiggy indicates a shift in on-train food preferences, with demand growing for regional dishes including Vada Pav, Adai, Appam, and Litti Chokha alongside Biryani. Approximately 14 per cent of on-train orders are placed by non-travellers, primarily family members ordering meals for passengers en route. The platform has fulfilled single orders of up to 45 items, serving large groups travelling together.
The on-train food delivery segment in India has grown since IRCTC introduced e-catering, reflecting sustained demand for pre-ordered meal delivery during long-distance rail journeys.
